Hardware — Phase I

This folder holds the hardware-side design docs for the LBZF computer-vision deployment: bill of materials, factory install runbook, Jetson edge-compute spec, factory network + Tailscale, the Argentina twin set, and the pre-Argentina testing checklist.

Phase I hardware was finalized 2026-05-11 and is captured in ADRs 001–006 under docs/design/30-decisions/accepted/. Everything in this bucket reflects that locked state — when a downstream doc says “Amcrest” or “TL-SG2210MP,” the ADRs are the authority.

What Phase I actually is

  • 2 Amcrest IP8M-2779EW-AI varifocal turret cameras at LBZF — vendor and count revised from the v1.9 plan (ADR-001). Ronald picks the two highest-value workstations on the Angela module to instrument first.
  • 1 NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano Super Dev Kit (8GB, 67 TOPS) doing decode + YOLOv8n inference + recording + dashboard.
  • 1 TP-Link TL-SG2210MP smart-managed PoE+ switch (single switch, not the dual-switch topology v1.9 specified — see ADR-002).
  • Inference at 3–5 fps, downscaled on the Jetson (see ADR-004 — frame rate revised down from the v1.9 plan).
  • Tailscale-only remote access, paid Starter tier for ~9 users — no Cloudflare Tunnel in Phase I (see ADR-005).
  • Both Jetsons pre-flashed in California before the 2026-05-15 BA flight (see ADR-006).

Reading order

  1. bom.md — what’s purchased, what’s pending, vendor channel per item.
  2. jetson-edge-compute.md — Jetson Orin Nano Super spec: JetPack 6.0/6.1 (not 6.2), OpenCV+GStreamer, TensorRT engine built on-device, systemd, ext4 + noatime.
  3. network-and-tailscale.md — flat 192.168.1.x LAN, Amcrest VLAN isolation, RTSP URL pattern, Tailscale ACLs with tag:lbzf-jetson / tag:itba-dev.
  4. install-runbook.md — Pereira on-site procedure (post-July arrival).
  5. argentina-twin-set.md — what ships to ITBA on 2026-05-15.
  6. pre-argentina-testing.md — bench-test checklist; links to G1 gate for the canonical pass criteria.

Top-level posture

  • Buy returnable when possible. Most CA-side items are Amazon-sourced and still in their return window through 2026-05-15. Receipts live in 1Password / Drive.
  • Argentina handoff is non-negotiable. Both Jetsons depart CA 2026-05-15 with Sophia + Armando. Anything not ready by Wednesday 2026-05-14 evening either flies broken or doesn’t fly.
  • Tailscale before Bogotá customs. The only remote-ops surface once the Jetson lands in Colombia is Tailscale. If tag:lbzf-jetson doesn’t auto-connect on first boot in Pereira, recovery is a flight.
  • Spanish-language posture on the plant floor. Anything an operator or mechanic could see (status LEDs, label tape, dashboard) needs Spanish-first treatment.

Phase II / III posture

Scaling notes live alongside each doc, not here. The headline: Phase II behavioral monitoring likely needs more than 8GB shared RAM (revisit Orin NX 16GB minimum or AGX Orin 32GB when Phase II workload is defined), and Phase III’s 4-module / ~24-camera scale outgrows the TL-SG2210MP (likely successor: TL-SG3428MP, or fan out by module).
